West Point Partners, LLC (WPP), the developer of the West Point Transmission project, is a consortium of companies with extensive experience in the development, permitting, financing, construction, and operation of major transmission and other energy facilities.

Leading the development efforts for WPP is PowerBridge, LLC of Fairfield, Connecticut, which brings together specialized expertise in project permitting, financing, construction, and operation and is principally responsible for the development and construction of the Neptune Regional Transmission System. Neptune is a 65-mile, 660 MW HVDC transmission system that extends 51 miles under water and 14 miles underground between Sayreville, New Jersey and Hicksville, Long Island, along with two converter stations at either end. Completed in 2007, on budget and ahead of schedule, Neptune currently supplies over 20 percent of Long Island’s electricity. PowerBridge is also responsible for the Hudson Project,  a 7-mile, 660 MW HVDC transmission system which connects Ridgefield, New Jersey and New York City, including approximately 3.5 miles of submarine cable buried beneath the Hudson River, and a converter station in Ridgefield, NJ.

In addition to PowerBridge, two active and experienced companies in the energy sector have provided development capital:

Starwood Energy

Starwood Energy Group Global, LLC is an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group Global, LLC, a privately held global investment management firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut, that specializes in real estate-related investments. Its clients include many of the nation’s leading public and private retirement programs, university endowments and foundations. Starwood Energy Group was founded in 2005 and has committed to transactions representing more than $4 billion in value, including the Neptune and Hudson transmission projects.

Ares Management/EIF Group

The EIF Group manages private equity funds that have made over 100 diversified investments with a combined underlying asset value exceeding $15 billion. EIF, which in 2015 was acquired by a subsidiary of Ares Management, L.P. (NYSE:ARES), was founded in 1987 as Energy Investors Fund, the first private equity fund manager to invest in the power sector. It was one of the principal investors in the Neptune Regional Transmission project and is a principal investor in the Hudson Transmission project, as well as numerous other generation and transmission assets in the United States.
